This 6,700-square-foot bank building shell was built in Phoenix, Arizona, for Sigma Contracting. The facility was constructed using cold-formed light gauge steel trusses on masonry walls.
Because light gauge steel trusses are lighter and more maneuverable than wood, they usually can be put into place with a crane, which saves time and money. Crane placement also provides a smoother way to set trusses into place even for larger roofs.
Structure Technologies, Inc. provided light gauge steel trusses for a 25,000-square-foot Lowe's home improvement center on Arizona Avenue in Chandler, Arizona. The facility, which was completed in 2005, has seven different roofs, one of which peaks at 32 feet. The trusses were lifted into place by a crane.
